Where you start
and where it goes

Everyone begins in Foundations. From there the classes open up as your knowledge and confidence grow.

Foundations

The importance of a good foundation cannot be overstated, which is why these are the first classes every new student attends.

They cover the foundational elements of Jiu Jitsu including the main positions, the most common and effective techniques, and the underlying concepts and principles.

Beginner & intermediate

Comprehensive

A wider breadth of techniques that extends beyond, and reinforces, the Foundations curriculum.

Beginners are assisted by more experienced students who already have the fundamentals, while intermediates keep every part of their game sharp and well practised.

Women only sparring

Ladies Team

Structured to create a comfortable and safe framework for our female students by keeping sparring between women.

The Ladies Team slots into the existing class format, so everyone is on the mat together for the community side of the academy, then pairs up amongst themselves for technique and sparring.

By invite or rank

Advanced

For students with a good foundational knowledge who are looking to develop further.

More advanced techniques are covered with a greater emphasis on the competitive element of sparring. Attend by invitation, or once the minimum experience or rank has been reached.

3 - 6 months in

Competition

A platform to focus exclusively on sparring, with no formal teaching of technique.

Excellent for building fitness, honing skills and the practical application of everything you have learnt. We recommend at least three to six months in the other classes first.

Common worry

Do I need to
get fit first?

No. Jiu Jitsu carries a unique fitness requirement that you develop over time simply by turning up. Even people who are fit in other sports still need to get Jiu Jitsu fit.

Take your time and go at your own pace. Nobody is watching and judging, everyone in that room started exactly where you are.
